James and Joe cycle LeJog

A 1146 mile cycle ride from Land's End to John o' Groats

Day 4 – Oakhampton to Taunton

Joe got a puncture and had to mend it by the side of the road in the rain.

Another very hilly day. Will they ever end? From Oakhampton we cycled up and down through Coleford, Crediton, Thorverton, Cullompton, then on to Taunton via Wellington. 62 miles in total, so a pretty long day as we got lost once or twice.

Weather was cold and wet to begin with, but it cleared up and we’ve both ended up with a bit of a tan.

Cycling up the ‘arrowed’ (means super steep) hill near Spreyton. Trying to take my mind off my aching legs, the smile masks the tears I am crying inside.

Heleen and Ferdinand from Holland. They were cycling Land’s End to John o’ Groats too.

Our good friend General D has arrived in Taunton and he’ll join us for tomorrow’s ride. Spent about an hour wandering around Taunton looking for somewhere to eat. Ended up at a Wetherspoons. It wasn’t nice.
